Great size, nice design, works well too!
"Yet another entry into the increasingly crowded flash drive market, Sandisk's Cruzer Micro sets itself apart with a great form factor and nice design. It's almost half the size of my Cruzer Mini, which was run over by a car and replaced by this. Instead of a green LED, you get a nicer-looking blue one. The body is plastic like on the mini, and feels really solid.
Write speeds are decent on a USB 2 machine, and livable on a USB 1.1 machine due to the slow interface. You won't get anywhere near the theoretical 480 megabits per second (60 megabytes per second) USB 2 peak data rate due to limitations of the memory controller and memory chips themselves. In testing, I get a little over 3 megabytes/second of read/write speed on a USB 2 equipped computer, and about 600-700 kilobytes/second on a USB 1.1 machine.
The Cruzer Micro comes with about 249MB free out of the box, which is a relief coming from Memory Sticks with 70+ MB missing due to formatting and copy-protection space.
You can also use the Cruzer Micro as the memory portion of an mp3 player that Sandisk is releasing, but seeing as it isn't available anywhere yet, the jury is still out on this added feature.
Why did I dock it one star? In use on USB 2 machines, the Cruzer Micro heats up quite a bit with extended read/writes with large files. This was noticed on both a Sony VAIO laptop and a Dell Dimension Desktop. On USB 1.1 machines the Cruzer did not heat up. It wasn't quite hot, more uncomfortably warm. I always worry since heat is the enemy of many electronics, and other flash drives I've used don't heat up to quite this degree. I did an exchange, and the replacement did the same thing. My Cruzer Mini also did this, so I'm not sure what to make of it.
Aside from the small heat issue, it's a tiny flash drive that looks great and works well. With prices dropping all the time on flash drives, the convienence of transporting your files around is now very affordable. Highly recommended." (amazon.com customer review)

Little is fantastic!

I've never gone for small before (I lose things), or decorative (seemed frivolous), or anything less than 4gb (too much hassle selecting out all the files you actually need that evening because the entire folder won't fit on your USB stick). But when I happened upon this stick in a store, I took one look at the colored skins and thought "Now THAT would be handy. Maybe when I lend this stick to someone else, I'll get it back." And besides, it was super cheap.
Now that I've actually used it, I am amazed. The skins do their job: you get three colors (counting the white one), making it easy to keep track of which stick is which. There's a label for your name and phone number, the kind of AHA! extra that makes you wonder why nobody thought it years ago. Same goes for the blazingly bright light at the tip (much easier to see than the light on the computer drive) that lets you know when the stick is in use.
But the pièce de résistance is its size: it actually FITS in the awkwardly-angled, horribly positioned USB port on the front of my computer. It's the first USB stick I've ever had that doesn't require me to crawl around on the floor in the dark behind the computer (or conduct UN-level negotiations with my USB hub and the computer to come to some sort of understanding) to get access to the files on the stick.
And I don't have to worry about losing it: it comes with a ring to attach it to a keychain, and a lanyard for those who prefer to wear it around the neck.
I am extremely happy. If I don't experience any of the durability issues others have had, I'm going to buy an entire set. Bye-bye long, elegant, professional-looking USB sticks! You've been replaced.

Very small, can fit anywhere. Works perfectly and the price was awesome. Just be careful of losing it, it really is quite tiny.
SanDisk 256 MB Micro Cruzer

Works great! Very easy and so far very reliable. Larger capacities are now available, which may be of interest if you want to use this as a backup for your large folders (or even most of the data files on your hard drive), but for transfering files or folders from one machine to another this works just fine and the prices have tumbled, making them a real bargain as compared with multi GB versions.

I use this little USB stick almost every day. I just keep it in my pocket so it's always there when I need it. The skins aren't really necessary but if you have more than one it's a good way to distinguish between them.

This is a great little device, had have used other products by Sandisk and the keep getting smaller and more powerful. Good deal for the money.
