<< Chapter 4 - Domain Names and Issues

How long does it take for my new site or domain name to be accessible?

(Last modified Aug 28, 2002 )

We, of course, will setup your domain name on our servers within a few hours. While setting up your site, we will also work to register or transfer your domain name, as required.

It takes 24-48 hours to complete new domain name registrations once processed. However after this time period, it actually depends on ALL networks and ISPs of the world to update their DNS servers and lookup your new domain name before it becomes accessible to their customers!

Some popular dial-up ISPs take less than 6 hours to update their servers, while others will take more than 3 days. During this time, as your DNS information propagates around the net, your domain may be accessibe from some locations but not others.

If you are using a dial-up connection to the Internet, make sure you have a reliable ISP that promply updates its DNS servers, so you can access yourdomain.com right away.
